NFL Week 11 - LS&J

Locks

The first lock of the week is the (6-3) Eagles over the (6-3) Giants.  It's a huge matchup in the NFC East for the outright lead in the division.  Vick is coming off a historic performance and the Giants are coming off a humiliating loss to the Cowboys at home.  It won't get any better in Philly this week as the Eagles soar with Vick once again 31 - 23.

The second lock is the (4-5) Chargers over the (3-6) Broncos.  The Denver Donkey's showed some life last week against KC, but the Chargers are getting healthy and they always play well in November & December.  The Broncos will cover the spread, but lose on the scoreboard.  Chargers win 27 - 20.

Shocks

The first shock is the (6-3) Bears over the (5-4) Dolphins.  Yes its shocking the Bears are 6-3, but it is also shocking the Dolphins are favored at home.  The Bears are 3-1 on the road and the Dolphins are 1-3 at home.  Who am I to argue with history and trends?  Bears win an ugly one 19-17.

The second shock is the (6-3) Colts over the (7-2) Patriots.  Another late year matchup everyone wants to watch.  At least everyone associated with The Sideliners!!  The Colts are banged up but keep winning games and the Pats are quietly putting together quite the record.  The Fighting Mannings will roll into Gillette Stadium and pull one out in the 4th quarter. Colts win 27 - 23.

Jocks

Since the Colts have no running game to speak of Peyton Manning will have to throw the ball around the yard to put points on the board.  He is averaging almost 300 yards a game and will go over that mark on Sunday afternoon in Foxborough with at least 2 touchdowns for good measure.

The other jock of the week is Ray Rice.  The Ravens are playing the 1-8 Panthers who are having BIG quarterback issues.  The issue is keeping them healthy!!  The team is in disarray and Baltimore should have a big day.  Ray Rice makes the engine run and he will gain 125 total yards and score a couple of touchdowns.

Tune in Tuesday to listen to the week that was in the NFL and hear how Chris & Matt's AFC picks are turning out.

NFL Week 5 - LS&J

Locks

The surprise of the week is the line for the (2-2) Eagles at the (0-4) 49ers shows the 49ers a 2.5 point favorite! I am going with the line and saying the winless 9ers will get on the board against the Kolb led Eagles. The 9ers will drop their safeties keeping everything in front of them making the Eagles dink and dunk all the way down the field. The 9ers problem hasn’t been the defense and it won’t be this week. The 9ers win 13-10 in a snoozefest!!

The second lock of the week is the (1-2) Vikings with the newly acquired Randy Moss against the (3-1) Jets. The addition of Moss won’t help the Vikings this week as Revis Island comes back from injury to limit Moss’s touches. The Jets will let Farve expose himself, again for the old quarterback he is. Jets 23 and the Vikes 20.

Shocks

The first shock of the week is the (2-2) Redskins to upset the (3-1) Packers. The Packers are favored by 3 on the road, but never underestimate the home dog. One never knows what they will get from the Redskins, but this week the good Skins show up and stop the air attack of the Packers 24-20.

The second shock is a bad game, but the only one I can really go with. The (2-2) Rams are 3 point dogs to the (0-4) Lions. The Lions are better than their record shows, they have been in every game even with a back-up quarterback. The problem is Detroit doesn’t have a running game and Bradford is putting up pretty good numbers. The Rams win on the road and keep the Lions winless 17-13.

Jocks

The first jock is Peyton Manning, who has the luxury of playing the undefeated Chiefs. That will change Sunday afternoon, but what won’t change is Manning slinging it all over the yard. Peyton will have over 300 yards and at least three touchdowns against the Chiefs.

The second jock is Matt Schaub of the Houston Texans. They are playing the New York football Giants and Schaub will go off. The bad Giants will show up, the one without the pass rush or cohesive offensive line. Schaub will throw for 300 yards and two touchdowns. Mark it down!!

Week 2

This weeks Locks, Shocks, & Jocks (LS&J) will be shorter because basically people might read predictions BEFORE the games kickoff.  Better luck next week.

Lock

The lock of the week is for the Saints to march all over the 49ers.  The 9ers didn't look all that strong last week and the Saints didn't look all that great, but they did collect some rings last week.  Brees may not rack up 350 yards against the improved 9ers defense but it will be enough against the anemic 49ers offense.  Saints win 24 - 10.

Shock

The shock of the week is the Giants over the Colts.  Everyone loves some sibling rivalry, even when its Peyton & Eli. Baby brother will take down his older brother because the Colts can't stop the run, especially without Bob Sanders.  They have a lot of practice playing without him, but apparently in this case practice doesn't make perfect.  The G-men take down the Colts 27 - 24.

Jocks

Peyton will put up great numbers again this week, 2 touchdowns and another 300 yards, but all for not as they take loss #2 on the season.

We will try to do better next week and get back to 2 locks, 2 shocks, and 2 jocks.  Tune it Tuesday night at 10:00 eastern to see how we did and Chris & Matt's comments on the week that was.  http://bit.ly/78Rrk

LS&J Playoff Style - Super Bowl

Preseason I picked the Saints and it is awfully hard to pick against yourself.  That's why I'm saying "Who Dat!!"  That being said I'm a huge Peyton Manning fan and will not be upset at all, maybe secretly glad, if the Colts beat the Saints.  I'm thinking Dwight Freeney will not hold up and that will be a problem for the Colts D.  The biggest problem for the Saints D is they are facing Peyton Manning.  The last two Super Bowls have been fantastic, going down to the wire.  The game will be settled in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter.  He who has the ball last with a decent amount of time left will win.  I'm sticking with the preseason pick - New Orleans 41 and the Colts 38.

The MVP will be Drew Brees.  No, this is not because of an alleged "man-crush" but because the quarterback of the winning team will be the MVP.

Take the over and take the points - see how the picks turned out as Chris and Matt talk about the Super Bowl and the best of worst commercials of the night.  Listen live at 10:00 eastern on www.blogtalkradio.com/sidelinershow .

LS&J Playoff Style - Championship Weekend

New York Jets vs. Indianapolis Colts

It seems we watched this game before just a couple of weeks ago.  Yeah we did, Indy pulled the starters and lost their first game.  Ironically, if Indy would have won that game it would have eliminated the Jets from the playoffs.  The Jets have all the confidence in the world, and I'm sure they will use tape of the first half to scheme for Peyton & Co.  But this week I don't see the Jets pulling off the miracle.  Peyton has looked too strong, too smart, all year for this to be his undoing.  It won't be a pretty game, Rex Ryan will see to that, but the Colts will book tickets to Miami and a chance to hoist the Super Bowl trophy.  Colts 27 Jets 17.

The player to watch is Peyton Manning.  He won't have a game where he throws for 350 yards and 4 touchdowns, but he will be reason the Colts win.  He will probably throw for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns, and it will be a great performance against the Jets D.  Sanchez hasn't had great numbers the first two games, but he hasn't had to.  This week it changes, and the rook gets a lesson from the master.

Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints

Fox and the NFL have to be loving this matchup.  Farve one game away from the Super Bowl, the Saints revitalizing the city.  Although haven't we been hearing that story for a couple of years now?  Anyways, this should be a great matchup of teams and quarterbacks.  Both defenses were dominant at certain points during the year and both looked vulnerable, even late in the year.  But during the playoffs both have dialed it in quite nicely.  I'm picking the Saints, basically because I picked them pre-season and I have to stick with them.  New Orleans 34 and the Vikings 27.

The player to watch is Brett Favre.  Yeah, I said it, and I'm not happy about it.  But for the Vikings to win he must have a great day.  A day like last Sunday when he didn't have any interceptions, and threw several touchdowns.  I expect the Saints to key on Adrian Peterson, and while Dallas shut down AP, they didn't stop Favre.  Expect "The Old Coot", as one friend refers to him to throw for 275 yards and two touchdowns.  A fine effort, and hopefully a losing one!
